Grants

As a national foundation with local roots, we seek opportunities that can transform both communities and journalism, and help them reach their highest potential. We believe nothing big happens without a big idea, nothing new without a new idea. In every project we fund, the idea comes first. Here are five basics components we are looking for in your ideas:

  • Discovery of the facts.
  • The vision to see what's possible.
  • The courage to push for change.
  • The know-how to get it done.
  • The tenacity that gets results.

If you believe your grant opportunity fits these criteria, we want to hear from you.

How to Apply

Submitting a grant proposal to Knight Foundation requires a few easy steps. The first step is to complete the following online inquiry. There are no deadlines to submit an inquiry.

If you would like to start the process, please follow the steps on the following pages.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Grants browser results may in some cases not show that an individual grant is part of a longer-term initiative or series of related grants. This browser doesn't include grants prior to 2001. For detailed information please contact Knight Foundation Webmaster Robertson Adams by e-mail at adams@knightfoundation.org
